International Documentary Festival Sheffield
INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL SHEFFIELD LIMITED
THE PLACE FOR NEW, DIGITAL AND INTERACTIVE FUNDERS AND MENTORS TO MEET THE BEST NEW PROJECTS\r\nThe Crossover Market runs parallel to the MeetMarket. Twenty five digital media led projects will be selected from submissions to hold matchmade one-to-one meetings with funders, mentors, advisors and digital experts from across the world. This is not a one-size-fits-all market, we invite people for you to meet who best fit with your needs.\r\nWHAT IS THE CROSSOVER MARKET?\r\nThe Crossover Market runs parallel to the MeetMarket, but offers a focused pitching opportunity for projects which are led by digital or interactive media, or which will be funding or distributing their projects in innovative ways such as crowdfunding, self-distribution, VOD, or even voluntary donation.\r\nAs well as being able to pitch ideas to cross-platform commissioners and experienced digital producers, selected projects will be offered a chance to meet with digital agencies, brands, third sector representatives, and other potential supporters from outside of the traditional film and TV industries.\r\nThe projects pitched can work across all media platforms in their delivery and may go beyond documentary into hybrid genres and fiction.\r\n"Sheffield truly is now one of my favourite film festivals. The course seemed to be such an amazing blend of great films being presented, intimacy, incredible people, easy access - I would almost say that it is perfect. The Crossover Market is a credit to how well the festival is run." Jon Reiss\r\nHOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU SHOULD SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT TO MEETMARKET OR THE CROSSOVER MARKET?\r\nThe general guideline is this - the Crossover Market is for digital/online-led projects and projects which aren't seeking funding or distribution through "normal" means such as scheduled TV, whereas MeetMarket is for linear/single-screen led projects which will primarily be seen on TV and cinema screens through traditional funding avenues such as TV commissioning, film funds and foundations. If you're not sure if you are producing interactive projects, looking through the examples on Docubase [_docubase] might help you clarify.\r\nHowever you don't have to decide for sure now! It's the same application form for both MeetMarket and Crossover Market, and we ask you to indicate whether you wish to be considered for one or both markets. When we assess projects, we'll take your self-identification into account, but we'll also bring our own expertise in interactive media into consideration and classify your project accordingly.\r\nPlease note: Interactive projects will still be eligible for MeetMarket, as will projects open to both traditional and "new" funding and distribution, and you may be selected for both markets. Our selection process will be aimed at getting you meetings with the most useful people as possible for your particular project.
